Patearoa Golf Club
Patearoa started as a mining township in 1863, due to the discovery of gold in the nearby Sowburn stream, and in those early days was known as Sowburn.
The name changed in the early 1900's, and after the gold, farming became the focus in the district.
In 1968 some land was gifted to the local community for recreational pursuits and the Patearoa Golf Club was born.
The 9 hole course is set in the peaceful surroundings of the Maniototo and offers the best country hospitality.
Today the small Patearoa township still supports the local farming community, local residents, holiday makers, fishermen and of course golfers.
